Listening Party: 7/20/1998

Monday, 07/20/1998 Ventura County Fairgrounds, Ventura, CA

Set 1: Bathtub Gin, Dirt, Poor Heart, Lawn Boy, My Sweet One, Birds of a Feather, Theme From the Bottom, Water in the Sky, The Moma Dance, Split Open and Melt

Set 2: Drowned -> Makisupa Policeman> Maze, Sea and Sand, Prince Caspian > Harry Hood

Encore: Sexual Healing > Hold Your Head Up, Halley's Comet

Notes: Poor Heart featured several false endings, including a Free Bird-style ending. Makisupa included a long, atypical jam. Sea and Sand (first since NYE 1995, or 166 shows) was an appropriate choice, given the venue’s location near the beach. Sexual Healing made its Phish debut at this show with Fishman reading the lyrics off the back of a show poster. As delay loops built to end Halley’s Comet, the band left the stage one by one.

Speadsheet Updates - 2/12/2010

Now available in the new format:

1994-04-04 - The Flynn Theatre
1994-04-05 - The Metropolis
1995-07-13 - Ed Sullivan Theater

And another thing...

Now that I think about this a little more, I've come up with a secondary use for the blog, as well. A while ago, my brother and I decided to start picking entire tours or months in Phish history and listening to them straight through. We started with Fall 97 then moved to August 93 (both no-brainers). We've now just started Summer 98 (US Tour). Anyways, as we started telling friends about this, a lot of people joined the party. Now, we have a good chunk of people listening and we all shoot emails back and forth about highlights, song selection, etc. Very similar to the emails we all share as the band is on the road.

So...I thought, why not include everyone in this listening party? I thought that I could post a show per day (or every other day) and have everyone able to join in and post comments about their thoughts.

Let me know what you think?

Welcome to THE SPREADSHEET blog!

I thought it might be time for me to create a blog for THE SPREADSHEET. I will be posting the updates here, as well as making random comments about shows/jams I have been listening to recently. Please feel free to use this a a forum to comment about anything relating to the spreadsheet, including better sources available, soundboards that have not been posted, etc.

Hope you enjoy!
